BEFORE YOU START THE MASSAGE

IMPORTANT!

It is common to be sensitive to touch and pressure on the face and around the throat. Be patient with yourself and proceed slowly and carefully. Only do what is comfortable for you! Apply pressure that feels right for you and stop whenever you have enough. Always be in tune with your body! If something does not feel right, stop! If it feels good, continue.

AREAS TO AVOID: CAROTID TRIANGLES

This is a place on the front part of the neck, where important blood vessels go through, together with some nerves and lymphatic tissue. Avoid this area when massaging or applying pressure. You will find this area by finding the pulse on the front of your neck.

RULE: DO NOT MASSAGE THE PULSE!

Five Steps to Ease Tension

Release tension from the muscles in and around your voice box any time you feel the strain. You don't need any equipment, just your own hands.
